ABOUT
"To be away from home, and away from everything, with a group of fellow artists, is always one of the very best, most fulfilling, and inspiring highlights of my years. Any year. And every year.
-- Stephen Adly Guirgis, Labyrinth Member & Intensive Ensemble Instructor
WHAT IS IT?
A residential week of workshops and new play development led by Labyrinth Theater Company members and guest artists.
Combining the ensemble spirit and creative drive that motivates all of Labyrinth's work, with the inspirational, multidisciplinary workshops of our Ensemble Workshop, the Intensive Ensemble allows emerging artists to push their boundaries, create their own work, be part of a collaborative ensemble, and generate vital new theater.

HISTORY
Every Summer, Labyrinth Company Members leave New York City to spend creative time away as a group. In a beautiful country setting we develop new plays and bond as a group and support each other’s work. We carefully created a program that enables our students to have the same creative and fruitful experience that our Company Members do each Summer.
CURRICULUM
Each day, Labyrinth Members and Guest Artists will lead workshops that challenge, encourage and fortify. In the evenings, each member of the newly created Ensemble will be assigned a role in one of six new plays, and the group will split up to rehearse with the writers and directors. In the later half of the week, each group will present readings of these plays to the rest of the Ensemble. These are plays that we have selected specifically based on each Ensemble -- the playwright might be well known, or brand spanking new. In addition to the workshops, rehearsals and readings, you'll collaborate with members of the Ensemble to create your own new work.
